Any resources listed here are offered through recommendations of our members. This Chapter has no affiliations or agreements in place with any organization or practitioner listed here. We encourage you to do your own due diligent consideration before hiring any grief counselor(s).

  • The Grief Tool Box When it comes to dealing with grief, it can be a challenge to find the resources we need to educate ourselves and our loved ones on what is happening and how to best keep going forward.

  • Alive Alone - for parents with no surviving children.

  • In Loving Memory - dedicated to helping parents cope with the death of their only child or all of their children.

  • Compassion Books - good source when all else fails. Especially good for older published dates.

  • Everashleymusic.com. A site dedicated to the memory of Ashley Pedersen by her father, Alan Pedersen, a gifted songwriter, who writes in memory of his daughter and has performed for many Compassionate Friends chapters around the country.

  • GriefNet - various resources, inspiration, etc.

  • Half.com by EBay - Low prices for books, cds and dvds.

  • Mattie Stepanek - During his 13 years of life, this remarkable young man taught us well. His books of poetry and various activities are an inspiration to all.

LOCAL SUPPORT GROUPS IN THE WASHINGTON METRO AREA

Hospice Caring of Montgomery County offers a free weekly support group for parents who have lost a child. Check out www.hospicecaring.org. For further information and registration, contact Ms. Toby Rabbin, Director of Adult Bereavement at (301) 990-0854.

Montgomery Hospice offers a six-week support group for bereaved parents. Call 301-921-4400 for further information. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Call and register early. www.montgomeryhospice.org
